Channel points

Channel points are a per-channel loyalty currency. You earn them just by watching a channel, then spend them on rewards that the creator sets up. Each channel has its own points (and may give them a custom name and icon) — your balance on one channel is separate from every other channel.

Earning points

You earn points in several ways while watching a channel that has points enabled:

  • Watching — points accrue automatically every few minutes while you’re signed in and watching the live stream. You don’t have to do anything.
  • Following — you get a one-time bonus the first time you follow the channel.
  • Bonus chests — every so often a chest button appears in the points bar. Click it to claim a small bonus before it disappears. If you don’t click in time, that chest is gone (the points are only added when you click).
  • Watch streaks — keep showing up for a channel’s streams and your streak grows, paying an escalating bonus at the end of each qualifying stream. Miss a stream and the streak resets.

Subscribers earn faster. If you subscribe to the channel, your watch-time earnings are multiplied by your subscription tier (higher tiers earn more). Following on its own gives the one-time bonus above, but does not add an ongoing multiplier.

Spending points

  1. Select Rewards in the points bar above the chat box.
  2. Pick a reward (they’re listed cheapest first). Some rewards ask you to type something — for example a message to highlight or a stream alert.
  3. Confirm. Your points are deducted straight away.

Depending on how the creator set up the reward, it’s either fulfilled instantly (e.g. your message is highlighted) or sent to the creator to approve. If a reward requires approval and the creator declines it, your points are refunded.

Creators can put limits on rewards — a cooldown between redemptions, a cap per stream, or a cap per viewer — and can pause redemptions entirely. If a reward is greyed out or you get “not enough points”, check the cost and any limits shown on the reward.

Your balance

Your current balance is shown as a chip in the points bar, using the channel’s points name and icon. Hover it to see your lifetime earnings and the current earn rates.
