Polls, predictions & giveaways

Three interactive tools appear as a banner above your chat. See the viewer guide for what your audience sees.

Availability

All three must be switched on platform-wide. Predictions and giveaways additionally need channel points enabled both platform-wide and on your channel. Until then, the Studio pages for them stay empty and the chat buttons don’t appear.

Where you run them

In chat, not in the Studio. Buttons in the chat header (visible to you and your moderators) open a create dialog, and there are chat commands for each.

The Studio pages — Polls, Predictions, Giveaways — are history. They’re where you review what you ran and, for giveaways, see past winners. You can’t start anything from them.

Polls

Ask a question, give options, and let chat vote.

• Duration: 15 seconds to 10 minutes. The dialog offers common presets; /poll always runs 60 seconds.
• One poll at a time per channel.
• Results stay hidden from each viewer until they’ve voted.
• You or a moderator can end a poll early (keeping the result) or delete it (discarding it and refunding bonus votes).

Bonus votes. Let viewers spend channel points on extra votes for the option they already picked. Set the cost per vote (default 100) and the maximum per viewer (default 5). They can’t buy votes for the other side.

Predictions

Chat bets channel points on an outcome.

• 2 to 10 outcomes, with a betting window of 30 seconds to 30 minutes.
• Set a maximum stake per viewer (default 10,000 points).
• Lock to close betting, then resolve by picking the winner, or cancel to refund everyone.

Who can do what. You or a moderator can create and lock a prediction. Only you can resolve or cancel it — a moderator must never be able to decide where the points go. You and your moderators also can’t bet on your own channel’s predictions.

Payout. Everyone who backed the winning outcome splits the whole pool in proportion to their stake, including their stake back. If nobody backed the winner, everyone is refunded. A locked prediction left unresolved too long is cancelled and refunded automatically.

Tip

Predictions work best on something that resolves in minutes and has a clear answer — “do I clear this dungeon without dying?” — not on something you’ll forget to settle.

Giveaways

• Set the ticket price, the maximum tickets per viewer, and how many winners to draw (up to 50).
• Restrict entry to everyone, followers, or subscribers.
• Draw automatically after a set time (1 minute to 24 hours) or manually whenever you like.
• Winners are drawn at random, weighted by tickets, and nobody wins two slots in the same draw.
• Re-roll replaces one winner with a fresh draw. Cancel refunds every ticket.

Before you run one

You must confirm that you own the prize and will deliver it. That’s recorded.

Danger

The platform doesn’t supply, hold, or deliver giveaway prizes and can’t arbitrate a prize that never arrives. A giveaway is a promise you’re making to your community in your own name. Only run one for a prize you actually have.

Prize draws are also regulated differently in different countries, particularly where entry costs something. If you’re unsure whether running a points-funded giveaway is appropriate where you live, don’t.
