Mod View & Shield Mode

Mod View is a dedicated screen for moderating one channel — everything a moderator needs, without fighting the watch page for space.

Opening it

While a channel is live, select Mod View on the stream’s info bar. It’s available to the broadcaster, the channel’s moderators, and platform staff. You can also go straight to /moderator/<channel>.

The layout

Mod View is a grid you arrange yourself — drag panels around, resize them, and lock the layout when you’re happy. Your arrangement is remembered.

The default panels are:

• Stream — the channel’s video, muted by default, with the viewer count.
• Chat — full chat with moderation actions.
• Mod Actions — the running log of everything moderators have done.

A Community panel on the right shows viewer count, presence, and recent chatters.

The dock

A strip of icons opens extra panels, each showing a badge when it needs attention:

Panel	What it’s for
Active Mods	Who’s on duty right now.
Unban Requests	Appeals from banned viewers, to approve or deny.
Held Messages	The held queue — approve or deny, with the reason it was held.
Deleted Messages	Recently removed messages, restorable.
Blocked Terms	Your word filter, editable without leaving the page.
Whispers	Message a viewer without leaving Mod View.

The user card

Select any chatter to open their card:

• Overview, Messages, Notes, History, Warnings tabs.
• Quick actions — timeout (10 seconds, 1 minute, 10 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day), ban, unban, warn, whisper.
• Stats — how many times they’ve been banned, timed out, had messages deleted, or been warned in your channel.
• Notes — shared with your mod team, or private to you.

On deployments where it’s enabled, the card can also show a coarse possible ban evader flag when the platform associates the account with a banned one. It’s a hint, not proof.

Note

Recent Chatters and the chatter list show people who have spoken, not everyone watching. Silent viewers never appear — that’s deliberate.

Shield Mode

Shield Mode is your panic button for a raid or a coordinated spam wave.

Open it from the Shield Mode toggle in the Mod View header. It has three tabs:

• Settings — the chat modes applied the moment you activate it: slow mode, followers-only, emote-only, subscribers-only.
• Terms & Phrases — words that trigger an immediate ban while Shield is active.
• Banned Chatters — everyone Shield has banned this session, each unbannable from here.

What activating it does

• Your Shield settings are applied on top of your normal chat modes, and whichever is stricter wins. Your normal settings are untouched and come straight back when you deactivate.
• Any message containing a Shield term results in an immediate permanent ban. You and your moderators are exempt, so you can still talk about the term.

Caution

Shield terms ban; blocked terms only reject the message. Don’t put ordinary profanity in your Shield list — put the specific thing the raid is spamming.

While it’s on

The header shows how long Shield has been active, how many bans it has made this session, and who turned it on.

Set Auto-off to 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours and Shield turns itself off — worth doing, so a raid at the start of a stream doesn’t leave your chat locked down for three hours after everyone has left.

Afterwards

Check the Banned Chatters tab before you close Shield down. Raids sweep up innocent people who happened to type the wrong thing, and unbanning them there takes seconds.
